Data of available stable isotope measurements of archaeological interest (δ13C, δ15N, δ34S, δ18O, and 87Sr/86Sr) reported for humans, animals, and plants from South America.
Description of methods used for collection-generation of data:
The South American Archaeological Isotopic Database (SAAID) is a compilation of all the available stable isotope measurements of archaeological interest (δ13C, δ15N, δ34S, δ18O, and 87Sr/86Sr) from the 12 modern countries of South America, previously reported in archaeological, palaeoecological, bioarcheological, and forensic reports.
The database was built through a strategy of Systematic Review, including scientific publications in peer-review journals of wide distribution, mainly located on the internet, but also grey literature i.e., unpublished dissertations and thesis, official research reports, and more local printed publications, as well as information reported in old printed books that, depending on the year of publication, are not always available online, and, finally, unpublished data provided through personal communications.
