Raw multibeam bathymetry data were collected aboard RV METEOR during cruise M201 using a 12kHz Kongsberg EM 122 multibeam echosounder. The expedition took place during 09.06.2024 - 18.07.2024 from Reykjavík (Iceland) to Praia da Vitória (Portugal) in the North and Central Atlantic. The major aims of M201 VEBVOLC were to decipher the volcanic history of the western part of the Iceland Plateau, determine the age and spatial extent of the new igneous system, its potential connection to the Snæfellsnes Volcanic Flank Zone and the Icelandic hotspot. Data were recorded in the EEZ of Iceland. Sound velocity profiles (SVP) were applied on the data for calibration. Please see environmental data and the cruise report for details. The data are unprocessed and can therefore contain incorrect depth measurements (artifacts) if not further processed. Note that refraction errors may occur when no proper SVP is applied. Data acquisition was done by GEOMAR Helmholtz Centre for Ocean Research, provision of the data is supported by the DAM Underway Project and published according to the FAIR principles.
These data should not be used for navigational purposes. Do not misuse data for exploitation reasons (e.g. fishing).
