As part of the evaluation of the Federal programme on equal opportunities for women and men at the universities (2008-2011), a questionnaire on the subject of “Academic career, partnership and family” was sent to the scientific staff of universities in 2011. A revised new version of the survey was addressed to the scientific staff of the Swiss universities and the ETH domain in autumn 2021. The intention was to show how the situation of scientific personnel had evolved at the universities and research institutions in the past ten years and to highlight the challenges that arise at present in respect of the compatibility of academic career, partnership and family. The project was implemented as part of the “Equal opportunities and university development” programme 2017-2020/21 coordinated by swissuniversities.
