Whole Genome Sequencing of Bacillus subtilis from Animal Waste from a Commercial Hog Enclosure

Using solid and liquid medias containing high concentrations of ammonia as sole nitrogen source, we isolated 11 strains of bacteria from hog waste and characterized one strain with potent ammonia assimilating capability. Whole genome sequencing revealed this strain to be a strain of Bacillus subtilis, with high sequence identity with its respective reference genome.
