Summary of sediment core sites including number of available data for each of the five proxies used. Data columns indicate the site name, longitude (lon, °E), latitude (lat, °N), site location in the Atlantic (location, South (S), Equatorial (E) and North (N) East (E) and West (W) Atlantic, subpolar North Atlantic is left blank), site water depth (depth, metres), the time slices for which data are available for each site and proxy, the data compilations from which the data were obtained for each proxy, and the citations of their original publications. The proxies are benthic stable carbon isotopes, (d13Cb), benthic stable oxygen isotopes (d18Ob, both in per mil), carbonate ion concentration in µmol/kg from B/Ca measurements in benthic foraminifera shells, the radiogenic neodymium isotopic signature of the authigenic sediment fraction (eNd), and benthic - atmosphere radiocarbon age offsets (radage_batm, in years).Additionally, our estimates of seawater properties for the different sediment sites are given with the prefix SW_. These comprise the different proxies (where d18O is the isotopic signature in water, not in calcite), as well as temperature (temp, in °C), salinity (sal, in PSU), silicate (SiO2), nitrate (NO3) and phosphate (PO4, all in µmol/kg) estimated from the World Ocean Atlas 2013 gridded data set, and the fraction of different source waters contributing to the local mixture (Labrador Sea Water LSW, Denmark Strait Overflow Water DSOW, Iceland-Scotland Overflow Water ISOW, Mediterranean Outflow Water MOW, Weddel Sea Deep Water WSDW, Weddel Sea Bottom Water WSBW, North Atlantic Deep Water (= LSW + MOW + DSOW + ISOW) NADW, Antarctic Bottom Water (=WSDW + WSBW) AABW, and lower-North Atlantic Deep Water (= DSOW + ISOW) lNADW), estimated from the data from Ferreira & Kerr, 2017.
