Microbiota of Short-tailed Shearwater Chicks

This study aimed to characterise the microbiota of short-tailed shearwater chicks from hatching until fledging using 16S rRNA pyrosequencing sequencing. The results identified that the GI microbiota of short-tailed shearwater chicks was dominated by gram positive facultative anaerobes and obligate anaerobes from the phylum Firmicutes (73-85%) throughout development.
