Arnoux's beaked whales (Berardius arnuxii) were observed at Drescher Inlet (eastern Weddell Sea). More than 8 whales were observed in the vicinity of a residual fast ice area within the Drescher Inlet at -72.83 S -19.15 W between 7 and 22 February 1990. The incidental observations were made during campain DRE1989/ANT-VIII/5, and an ice camp was established on the shelf ice (Riiser-Larsen Ice Shelf) on the east side of the Drescher Inlet(PS16) to facilitate the field work.
