Hexaferrites are well known for their applications as permanent magnet and memory devices. In recent years, the interest in hexaferrite has grown from the point of view of multiferroicity also. In the present proposal, we would like to understand the microscopic basis of the freezing of transverse and longitudinal spins leading to spin glass transitions in the ordered M-type barium hexaferrite. Temperature-dependent neutron scattering measurements are required to capture the loss of magnetic contribution to the intensities of Bragg peaks due to transverse freezing of spins and also to capture short-range magnetic ordering through magnetic diffuse scattering measurements using WISH diffractometer.
