A study on atomic clustering in Fe-Cr alloys by NIMROD diffractometer

DOI

Low temperature embrittlement of stainless steels are due to phase separation and it is known that the kinetics of phase separation depend on the initial structure. However, the effect of initial clustering occuring above the miscibility gap on subsequent phase separation kinetics is not known. Hence, this will be further investigated in the present proposal. A better knowledge of this phenomenon will assist in further developing predictive modeling that can be used for novel alloy design.
