Within the framework of the ARRS programme group “Areas of cultural contact in integration processes”, public opinion telephone surveys were conducted in four border areas in order to determine how the population of Slovenian border municipalities assesses the development of cross-border connections with neighboring cross-border areas in the period after Slovenia’s independence, intensity and typology of local cross-border ties, how respondents assess further development trends after Slovenia’s entry into the Schengen area and how they evaluate the role of Slovene minorities in neighboring countries in increasing cross-border social integration and consolidating the common Slovenian cultural space in the context of European integration. A version of the data file (SUF), which contains the variable place of residence (open question) and is intended only for research purposes, is also available on request.
