An archeological excavation taken in the Querciola area inside the municipality of Sesto Fiorentino (Firenze - Italy) brought to the discovery of a copper age metallurgical workshop containing samples at different degrees of refinement. Also some metal tools used for the smelting and smithing processes were found as well.We propose to start a set of systematic measurements with four samples selected among the copper artifacts: one casting residual metal block, two ingots and a lesina (that means half processed metal bars used for trade of metals in antiquity) since they represents three different intermediate stages of the metallurgical process.
