Measuring the Induced Magnetism in Graphene by Polarised Neutron Reflectivity in a Ni/C/Ni Structure

DOI

This proposal aims to measure the induced magnetic moment in graphene arising from the proximity effect in the vicinity of ferromagnetic substrates using Polarised Neutron Reflectivity (PNR) measurements at the POLREF endstation at ISIS, STFC. We want to identify and quantify the spin splitting in the carbon lattice by unambiguously determining the induced magnetic moment at various temperatures.
