The purpose of this study was to examine recent boardroom corporate governance changes in UK firms since the publication of the Cadbury Committee Report of 1992. The Cadbury Report set out the principles which were to become the standard against which companies would be assessed in relation to their corporate governance practices. The aim of this research project was to examine whether companies were adhering to the principles outlined in the Cadbury Report, by surveying listed UK companies. The companies involved in the survey supplied information in confidence; a company identifier variable is included in the dataset, but there is no way to link this with actual companies, therefore preserving confidentiality.
Main Topics:
Topics covered included: aspects of boardroom corporate governance since the 1992 Cadbury Report, current and previous chief executive officers (CEOs) and chairpersons, the main boards and committees, boardroom pay setting, CEO's bonuses, incentive schemes and contracts.
