To study unpublished census data concentrating on the extent, direction and causes of population movements within the Northern Highland counties during the second half of the nineteenth century.

Main Topics:

Variables Age, sex, occupation(s) and parish of birth. In addition, in 1891, it was also noted whether an individual spoke only Gaelic, or was bilingual. Names and addresses were not included. Please note: this study does not include information on named individuals and would therefore not be useful for personal family history research.
