Ternary RScSi and RScGe compounds (R = Ce and Pr) crystallize in the well-known tetragonal, CeScSi-type structure. Both CeScSi and CeScGe order AFM below 26 and 43 K, respectively. These are relatively high magnetic ordering temperatures for compounds of cerium with non-magnetic elements. Multiple magnetic transitions were reported for RScSi and RScGe (R=rare earths) compounds. For example PrScGe orders AFM at 140 K, but it exhibits two extra magnetic transitions at 88 K and 80 K. In view of the exciting magnetic properties of RScSi and RScGe compounds, we here plan to study R = Ce and Pr compounds by means of muon spin rotation and inelastic neutron scattering (INS) measurements. muSR study is important to know the ground state which shows multiple magnetic transitions. INS study is crucial to explore CEF energy levels and their wave functions as well as the spin wave energy scale.
