Sample taken from a layer of silt, accessible in a deepening aside an oak trunk, lying in the gravel, a little above the middle of the trunk.According to H.H. Leuschner the oak tree had died A.D. 896 (Jordan 1986). Correspondigly the silt contains pollen of cultivated plants like Secale, Triticum, Linum usitatissimum and of weeds like Centaurea cyanus.Silt and oak trunk must, however, not be of the same age.The pollen spectrum of ths sample belongs to Pollen zone X (Late Subatlantic)
