Ice samples were drilled from Sherman Island, coastal West Antarctica, using the British Antarctic Survey Rapid Access Isotope Drill (RAID). The dataset contains the top and bottom depths of each sample with corresponding ages and an uncertainty estimate, and the chemical ion concentrations and stable water isotope composition of each sample. The samples were dated using a combination of annual layer counting, identification of volcanic events, and modelling. The data extend to ~1200 years before present.
The K+ and Ca2+ data from the first sample in each drop of the drill have been removed from the dataset (as described in Rowell et al., 2023). Each row corresponds with 1 sample. The samples were drilled within the Sherman Island RAID Drilling Project (January to February 2020), being part of the WACSWAIN (Warm Climate Stability of the West Antarctic in the Last Interglacial) project.
