Whole genome sequencing of Kalibaus (Labeo calbasu) and genome annotation to unveil genetic variations to explore the evolution and adaptation at genome level

The Kalibaus is a small-sized carp species belonging to the family Cyprinidae, sub family labeoninae, genus Labeo, and species Labeo calbasu. It is also called the Kaligoni. The genome resequencing of Kalibaus will provide valuable information on genome organization, evolutionary divergence, conservation and overall endemic diversity. The aim of this project is to identify some important genes related to a particular trait such as those associated with adaptation, muscle strength or prolificacy. The data will help explore evolutionary relationship with closely related species.
