Net Ecosystem Exchange (NEE) for Europe 2018 estimated using the two inversion systems CSR and LUMIA, both with the regional transport models FLEXPART and STILT as part of the CSR-LUMIA intercomparison study. Boundary conditions were provided by two global inversions using the global transport models TM3 and TM5 at coarse resolution in a 2-step inversion approach. The prior biosphere fluxes of CO2 were calculated using the diagnostic biosphere model VPRM https://doi.org/10.18160/VX78-HVA1. The ocean fluxes and fossil fuel emissions are prescribed in the inversions and are taken from Mikaloff-Fletcher et al. (2007) https://doi.org/10.1029/2006GB002751 and EDGAR_v4.3 https://doi.org/10.18160/2M77-62E6, respectively. The datasets are supplementary material for Munassar, S., Monteil, G., Scholze, M., Karstens, U., Rödenbeck, C., Koch, F.-T., Totsche, K. U., and Gerbig, C.: Impact of atmospheric transport on CO2 flux estimates derived from the atmospheric tracer inversions, Atmos. Chem. Phys. Discuss. [preprint], https://doi.org/10.5194/acp-2022-510, in review, 2022.
