We sequenced the genomes of a semelparous, annual sugar beet (accession no. 001684/3 = data set B2454), an iteroparous, vernalization-requiring wild beet from Ireland (accession no. 080454/7 = data set B2455) and a single F1 plant (plant no. 111178 = data set B2456) which was derived from a cross of 001684/3 x 080454/7. The aim was to detect polymorphic regions that were used to develop molecular markers. These markers were used to genotype the F2 population that were derived by selfing F1 plant 111178.
