Inelastic studies of Rh-doped URu2Si2

PID

In this proposal we suggest continuation of our inelastic neutron scattering study of the 8% Rh-doped system that does not show any signature of a hidden order that is present in pure system, nor of a long-range magnetic order that commences at higher doping levels, or upon application of magnetic field higher than ~ 22 T. In fact, we have expected a well-defined signal associated with Q2 = (2/3 0 0) to appear in the vicinity of the metamagnetic transition that leads to a long range magnetic order. However, it appears that the counting times needed to disclose the existence (or non-existence) of the expected signal are much longer than expected. This became clear after measuring the pure system where the Q and energy positions were exactly predicted. Even then we had to collect data for 48 hours. With this proposal we suggest to collect the data at 24 T, 20 T and 0 T with similar counting times.
