To examine aminal-microbe interactions, we conducted field and laboratory experiments to examine whether the anchialine endemic shrimp Halocaridina rubra gut microbiome is distinct in reference to its food source. In addition, we explored whether the H. rubra gut microbiome could be influenced depending on what they consumed. To examine this we used high-throughput sequencing technologies to examine both the bacterial and microeukaryotic fraction of food source communities and H. rubra gut microbiom.
