De novo transcriptome assembly of the gonads of a scleractinian coral Euphyllia ancora

To get a better understanding of the mechanisms underlying gametogenesis in scleractinian corals, the ovaries and testes at different developmental phases (from early to mature) were isolated from a gonochoric coral Euphyllia ancora, and RNAs from those E. ancora gonads (holobiont) were extracted, sequenced, and assembled. Sex-and phase-specific gene expression profiles were revealed by the transcriptomic analyses.
