Unravelling the temperature-pressure phase diagram for the multiferroic, BiFeO3

DOI

Bismuth ferrite is arguably the most widely studied multiferroic material due to room temperature magnetic and ferroelectric ordering. However, despite extensive research the temperature-pressure phase diagram remains a mystery. We propose to collect data as a function of both temperature and pressure to begin to understand the complex phase evolution in this material. We believe that this will not only provide us with an enhanced understanding of the structure-property correlations in bismuth ferrite but also provide a greater understanding of the as yet undetermined gamma-phase.
