Mitochondrial genomes in Perkinsus decode conserved frameshifts in all genes

Four Perkinsus species mitochondrial genomes were sequenced to determine ancestral myzozoan mitochondrial genome features, as well as any novel ones in Perkinsozoa. Among the unusual features of Perkinsus species, we determined the coding capacity and remarkable use of frameshifts in yet another form of divergent myzozoan mtDNAs
