Cryptic genetic lineages share common gene regulatory mechanisms to acclimatize to environmental variation in two Caribbean coral species

The goal of this study was to investigate if adaptive regulatory evolution associated with environmental local adaptation contributed to genetic divergence previously described in Montastraea cavernosa and Siderastrea siderea. Using a cross-shelf gradient, we collected approximately 20 adult and 20 juvenile samples from nearshore shallow, offshore shallow, and deep reefs in the Florida Keys. Genetic lineage was idenfiied with 2bRAD genotyping, and gene expression was profiled with TagSeq.
