Data for "Climate change impacts on the suitability of lowland and upland crop systems in Lao PDR"

DOI

This data set contains the script used for calculating crop suitability in the paper "Climate change impacts on the suitability of lowland and upland crop systems in Lao PDR". The script contains a modified version of the EcoCrop model (Hijmans et al. 2001) and is written to run in R to calculate crop suitability for annual and perennial crops. See further specifications on methodology in the R-script and the supplementary material to the published paper. Further, a series of output files for the script is included, showing crop suitability for paddy rice, upland rice, maize, cassava, banana, and rubber in 30 arcseconds resolution for Lao PDR. The files include historical suitability (1981-2010) and average projected future suitability in 2041-2070 for SSP1-2.6 and SSP5-8.5. Projected future suitability are averages based on five General Circulation Models (GFDL-ESM4, IPSL-CM6A-LR, MPI-ESM1-2-HR, MRI-ESM2-0, and UKESM1-0-LL) for CMIP6 from the Climatologies at High resolution for the Earth’s Land Surface Areas (CHELSA) v2 database.
