Triazole evolution of C. parapsilosis influences stress response and virulence depending on the drug applied

Antifungal resistance of Candida parapsilosis to azole is an increasing problem worldwide. In contrast with other Candida species, there is less knowledge on resistance mechanisms in C. parapsilosis. In this project we aimed to generate azole resistant laboratory strains of C. parapsilosis by microevolution to investigate resistance mechanisms and virulence properties.
