Determination of binary calibration curves for Neutron Resonance Capture Analysis on the INES beam line

DOI

Neutron Resonance Capture Analysis (NRCA) is a valid and effective experimental tool for the elemental analysis of objects (e.g. the metallic ones), especially those of archaeological interest, since many of the elements in the periodic table exhibit resonances in their neutron capture cross sections in the energy range indicated above. Previous measurements had carried out good results and demonstrated the reliability of this technique on INES. The aim of the present experiment will be to calibrate the device through the measurements of standard samples with certified elemental composition. This step is fundamental in order to use NRCA instrument in the user program of INES.
