Quantum Methyl Rotors for Gas Sensing in Zeolitic Imidazolate Framework-8

DOI

We aim to utilise Low-Energy Neutron Scattering (LENS) at OSIRIS to investigate the effects of gas adsorption on the quantum rotation of the methyl groups present in a Metal Organic Framework (MOF) material with zeolitic topology: ZIF-8. We anticipate that the research will lead to the use of tunnelling transitions in the characterisation of gas adsorption and uptake in methyl-containing complex nanoporous media.
