Multibeam bathymetry processed data (NORBIT iWBMS entire dataset) of project KARST in the Bay of Antalya (Türkiye)

DOI

Processed shallow water multibeam bathymetry and backscatter data from the NORBIT iWBMS. Data were acquired between the 6.3.2023 – 18.3.2023 during a cruise on the vessel Mustafa Reis Finike in the Bay of Antalya. The data was generally acquired during calm seas in water depths between 5 and ~50 m. The dataset extends over the shallow regions from the Konyaalti beach to the Düden Falls. The MBES was mounted on the starboard side of the vessel using an adjustable pole and custom-made metal bracket. Our measurements involved an RTK GNSS reference grid operated by the Turkish national GNSS network. The resulting accuracy in position and height was around 5 cm, although the RTK connection was disrupted occasionally. The echosounder was operated at 400 kHz in chirp mode with a bandwidth of 80 kHz, giving a theoretical range resolution of 9 mm. We used a swath width of 150°, separated into 512 individual beams. 18 vertical CTD casts were collected in different regions of the bay to correct for changes in the sound velocity profile.

These data should not be used for navigational purposes. This dataset can contain errors and cannot substitute the official government charts
