Abstract: A child with autism finds swimming his way out of the imaginary “bubble” that was isolating him from the rest of the world.

Details: The short animation movie starts with the view of a city from a boat near the shore and then moves inside a home, where a child visibly lives due to the amount of toys lying around in the living room. The following scene moves to the kitchen and zooms into a picture hanging from the fridge that shows a happy couple. By showing different pictures, the movie fasts forward through different stages of the protagonist’s childhood, starting from his birth. In every picture, the protagonist is depicted with a transparent bubble around him. This bubble isolates him from the rest of the world. In fact, the following scene shows that the child does not respond to his mother telling him good night. Both parents seem visibly worried about his condition and decide to take their child to the doctor. He prescribes to him different medicines, which seem to be not helping much. One day, while walking on the shore, the kid’s hat flies into the sea. The water spraying him appears to briefly burst the bubble that surrounds him, and at this moment, the parents realize that a solution could be taking him swimming. While he swims around happily in the swimming pool, his bubble stays outside the water. The closing scene shows the mother telling the kid goodnight, but this time, he manages to respond to her. He even hugs her, and while doing so, his bubble does not surround him wholly but just in half.
