Study of mitogenome and corresponding transcriptome of sea anemones based on a combination of next generation Ion Torrent PGM sequencing and Sanger sequencing.

Mitogenomes and mito-transriptomes of the temperate sea anemone Anemonia viridis that belongs to the order Actiniaria, subclass Hexacorallia, Class Anthozoa and Phylum Cnidaria, and its closer relative Anemonia majano were sequenced by a hybrid approach using Ion Torrent PGM next generation seqencing and Sanger sequencing. The purpose of the study was to analyse the expression pattern of the encoded genes and the unsual group I introns present in the mitogenome.
