This study delves into unravelling the effects of increasing urban intrusion on the microbial consortia inhabiting two mangrove habitats including Campal and Panaji, within the Mandovi estuarine environment of Goa. Utilizing cutting-edge Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) methodologies, we aimed to decode the intricate interplay between urbanization and microbial dynamics in these vital coastal habitats. Using 16S amplicon sequencing, the taxonomic composition and diversity of the unculturable bacterial communities from sediments from these urban mangrove habitats. Shotgun sequencing was utilize to study functional diversity of microbes.
