We report insight into PTMs in a hydrothermal vent microbial community through integration of metagenomics and metaproteomics. Proteomic mapping to the draft genome of a Nitrospirae bacterium revealed novel modifications for proteins that participate in energy metabolism, signal transduction and inorganic ion transport.
