The survey "Violence against women" aims to analyze the phenomenon of violence against women in Italy, both in terms of prevalence and incidence, and the domestic violence also. The survey collects information on the characteristics of those who are involved in forms of violence, and the consequences for the victims. It also allows to reconstruct the dark number of violence, and violence that has occurred before the age of 16. For the first time, the survey reveals the hidden and submerged nature of physical and sexual violence, and the ways in which it occurs. It also allows to build the profile of the victims, provides information on how, where and when they were victimized, and on the main factors that exposes them more. More specifically, the information collected relates to: the characteristics of the authors of violence, the characteristics of non-family violence and domestic violence, the characteristics of the victims of violence, the consequences and seriousness of violence, the social costs of violence, the report of violence to the police, the risk factors of violence, the extension of the phenomenon of violence (both from partner and non-partner), perception of violence as a crime, the justice process of the reported violence, the repeated violence and family types. The very detailed questionnaire is structured in several sections dealing with: Habits and characteristics of the interviewee Features of the current partner / last partner Features of the previous partner Screening of violence suffered by a non-partner, from the current partner / last partner, from the previous partner Report of violence suffered by a non-partner or partner History of previous violence suffered by the family of origin The screening sections show whether the woman has been subjected to physical or sexual violence, and who is the author of violence. In these sections, for each type of violence suffered, information is collected about the number of violence and the period in which they occurred. The report sections reveal the last event of the violence suffered and they collect information about the elements of repeated violence. The last section collects information about the family of origin, both of them and their partners, about the violence suffered and assisted.
