Quantum spin liquid (QSL) is a novel state of matter where the spins are highly entangled with one another but fluctuate strongly down to zero temperature. It may be associated with exotic forms of superconductivity and related to the application of quantum computing. Here, we propose a new promising QSL candidate NaYbO2. It features a perfect triangular lattice composed of Yb3+ (S=1/2) ions. The perfect triangular lattice and ternary chemical composition of NaYbO2 make it unique as compared to other proposed QSL candidates, in which site disorder, magnetic defects and spatial anisotropy are often present. We intend to identify the ground state of NaYbO2 using muonSR.
