Metagenomic analyses of bacterial diversity from rhizosphere soils of 27 different tomato varieties along a domestication gradient

This study evaluates whether variation in plant traits along a domestication gradient determines the composition and functionality of soil microbiomes and whether changes in microbial composition are related with targeted traits (e.g., fruit traits) or are side effects of less-often-targeted traits (e.g., resistance) during crop breeding.
