Spin dynamics of pressure-induced heavy fermion superconductor CeRhGe2

DOI

The discovery of unconventional superconductivity (SC) in several heavy fermion (HF) compounds has attracted considerable attention. Recently we have investigated CeTSi3 (T=Rh and Ir) compounds, which show pressure induced SC, using inelastic neutron scattering (INS) and musr measurements and a manuscript is ready to submit to PRB. Very recently we have measured the high pressure (P) resistivity of the quasi-2D CeRhGe2 compound that exhibits AFM ordering with TN=7.6K at P=0. Our study shows that with initial increasing P, TN increases to 8.8K at 3GPa and then decreases with further increasing P and surprisingly at 7.1 GPa an onset of SC at Tsc=0.45K. Considering importance of HFSC, it is interesting to investigate spin dynamics of CeRhGe2 to get more insight into the origin of SC. We therefore propose to carry out high energy INS measurements on MERLIN and low energy study on OSIRIS.
