Humpback whale diet analysis

We used amplicon sequencing of wild-collected fecal samples to resolve the diets of humpback whales in British Columbia, Canada. We targeted the MiFish region of the 12S rRNA gene to infer fish prey and a short section of the COI gene to infer marine invertebrate prey from each fecal sample.
