Sporobolus virginicus halophytic grass rhizosphere soil microbiome Metagenome

This study was initiated to find out the absolute abundance of different bacterial community present in Sporobolus virginicus grass rhizosphere habitat soil of Indian Sundarbans. It was done through isolation of soil DNA from the respective sites and amplicon database generation through16S (V3-V4) rRNA Sequencing using Illumina MiSeq.

Comparison of these rhizosphere microbiome information with that of mono-species mangrove plantations, pristine mangroves, ecologically restored or semi-restored mangroves, degraded mangroves and rhizosphere habitat sites soil of other halophytic grasses of Indian Sundarbans might result into identification of some particular bacterial community abundances as metrics which could indicate the importance of the halophytic grass rhizosphere microbiome in future studies.
