Magnetic rare earth/transition metal (RE/TM) multilayers have been a subject of considerableinterest in recent years, given the antiferromagnetic exchange coupling between RE and TMlayers, and a wide variety of magnetic configurations created by temperature and field. Forpractical applications, there is a clear advantage replacing the RE element by a RE-TM alloy, in order tu tune the Curie point Tc. In this proposal we focus on the effect of a nonmagnetic spacer (Si) between Co and amorphous GdCo layers in [Co/Si/GdCo/Si]4/Co multilayers. The aim of the experiment is to study how the spacer affects the twisted state appearing at high fields due to the change of an exchange interaction and additional contribution of the charge transfer, effects which can only be adequately studied using Polarised Neutron Reflectivity with an analyser.
