Lipopeptide surfactants are a group of interesting biosurfactants due to their natural origin and their high effectiveness at reducing interfacial tension. However, there is a general lack of understanding of the relationship between their molecular architecture, interfacial activity and interfacial layer structure. Although lipopeptides are very abundant in nature, it is difficult to purify them due to a high extent of mixing. In this work, we will take advantage of modern synthetic chemistry to make highly pure samples and study how molecular structures affect interfacial structures in a systematic manner.
