Intergranular strain development during biaxial loading

DOI

The experiment will measure the development of Type II intergranular strains in 316 stainless steel as a function of applied stress for stress states ranging from uniaxial to equal biaxial. Non uni-axial stress states represent a strong test for micromechanical models, since the effect of non-isotropic yield surface development and hardening interactions will be highlighted. This experiment is a commissioning experiment of a newly developed piece of equipment.
