In-situ neutron diffraction investigation of the BCC and FCC Oxide Dispersion-Strengthened (ODS) alloys produced by mechanical alloying (MA)
ODS alloys are currently considered as one of the most promising nuclear materials for high-temperature applications in the ¿Generation-IV Nuclear Reactors¿. The proposed experiment is intended to shed more light on the deformation behaviour of the BCC (MA 956) and FCC (MA 754) MA ODS alloys at the low-medium temperatures (RT-350°C). The obtained neutron diffraction results will be compared with the EPSC simulations and combine with the in-situ synchrotron data in order to study the load partitioning between the matrix and the yttrium oxide particles. Additionally, using the new EPSC model we will be able to elucidate the activation of different deformation modes and evolution of the deformation texture at different temperatures. The current experimment will also assess the effect of the loading direction in respect to the initial texture and microstructure on the mechanical properties
