We request 4 days on VESUVIO to study the proton, lithium and oxygen momentum distributions in a series of HxLiyWO3 bronzes (including the protonated bronze HxWO3). VESUVIO has been shown to be able to easily distinguish and separate such masses, and each is light enough to recoil as a free particle in accordance with the impulse approximation. The key objective is to determine how the momentum distributions vary with chemical environment and conductivity in these important energetic materials. Conductivity due to electron mobility arises on isertion of H/Li into WO3, and as such the quantum-ground state of the proton is of paramount importance in investigating such materials. This investigation will also further exemplify the applicability of DINS and VESUVIO to the applied disciplines of energy materials and chemical research.
