The search and optimisation of Delta0 resonances in TIPS-Pentacene in solution

DOI

To the best of our knowledge, there is no previous work on using muons to measure photo-excited states in organic semiconductors or related materials. Our photo-excitation ideas that we are only beginning to act upon have the potential to open up an entirely new area of muon science. We have identified TIPS-Pentacene as being the ideal candidate to understand the physics of photo excited states measured with muons, as it has a very strong ALC resonance at magnetic fields accessible by the RIKEN spectrometer (which has the only laser). Prior to performing these experiments, which are technically challenging and time consuming, we must fully characterise the Delta0 resonances in TIPS-Pentacene in solution. We must also optimise the solution concentration, to allow us to maximise the signal-to-noise in the optical excitation experiments.
