We are currently investigating the formation and structure of surfactant-templated polymer films comprised of cat-anionic surfactant mixtures and a variety of polymers. As we intend to use these films for biomedical applications such as drug delivery and sensor support the toxicity of thesurfactants used means we have had to develop alternative film forming systems. Therefore we are investigating surfactant-templated polymer films comprised of a less toxic zwitterionic sulfobetaine surfactant, calcium chloride and biopolymers. The films are prepared by spray coating a solution of all components upon a substrate, producing a thin film of solution which undergoes rapid solvent evaporation causing an increase in the concentration of surfactant, salt and polymer. In this experiment we will investigate sulfobetaine surfactant, calcium chloride andpolymer interactions using SANS
