Identification of large sampled plastics fragments during the composting experiment by FTIR

DOI

Plastics fragments of a size larger than 10 mm sampled during the composting experiment were identified using Fourier-Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), using a Perkin Elmer Vertex IR, operated by the software OPUS in ATR mode. The resolution was 4 cm-1, scanning range 4000 to 800 cm-1. Each acquisition was done with 50 scans, the spectra are displayed in absorbance mode. The chemical identification was done by correlation with reference spectra of initial plastics of standard samples. The accepted correlation coefficient was ≥ 90%.
