The data originates from 23 drilling stations sampled in the Canadian Beaufort Sea in September and October 2021 as part of the PeCaBeau2021 (Permafrost Carbon on the Beaufort Shelf) project. The expedition took place on the research vessel CCGS Amundsen (AMD2104), spanning five major across-shelf transects. Sample acquisition were conducted using a multicorer (MUC), where several undisturbed sediment samples were taken simultaneously. The collected sediment cores were up to 30 cm deep, where in this study the surface sediments (0-1cm and 1-2cm) were evaluated. Analysis took place at the Alfred Wegener Institute (AWI) in Potsdam, GeoForschungsZentrum (GFZ) in Potsdam, ETH in Zurich and in the Laboratory of Soil Science and Geoecology at the University of Tübingen between March 2022 and September 2022. At AWI the samples were analyzed for water content, bulk density, TN, Hg and grain size. TOC and δ13C were measured at GFZ, 14C at the the ETHZ and δ15N in Tübingen. TN was measured using a rapid MAX N exceed. Hg was determined with a DMA-80 evo. Grain size composition was measured using a Malvern Mastersizer 3000 equipped with a Malvern Hydro LV wet-sample dispersion unit. Statistics were calculated with Gradistat 8.0. TOC and δ13C were measured with an elemental analyzer connected with a ConFloIV interface on a DELTA V IRMS (iso-topic ratio mass spectrometer). Radiocarbon dating was conducted with a Mini Carbon Dating System MICADAS. δ15N was measured using a vario isotope cube connected with a Isoprime vision.
